Fantastic Videos of Railroading Songs - Trains at Night
Here is volume two of my collection of railroad songs. This one focuses on trains at night, which are always even more romantic (if possible) than trains running during the day.
Night Train To Memphis Roy Acuff
Vintage footage or Roy Acuff and his band performing his classic song about the Night Train to Memphis. Wonderful that modern technology let's us easily relive these performances from long ago.
Gladys Knight - Midnight Train To Georgia
Gladys Knight and the Pips perform Midnight Train To Georgia at Chicago's Regal Theater. An excellent rendition of a classic song. A very good video, which unfortunately cuts out at the very end.
Al Stewart with Dave Nachmanoff - Night Train to Munich
Here is Al Stewart with Dave Nachmanoff performing Al's song Night Train to Munich. This song was Al's album A Beach Full of Shells and is about spies traveling on trains during the war. This is possibly based on the 1940 movie of the same title.
The Osborne Brothers - Midnight Flyer
An Osborne Brothers classic indeed. "Oo, midnight flyer; Engineer, won't you let your whistle moan? Oo, midnight flyer; I paid my dues and I feel like trav'lin' on". Great banjo on this track, really gives the feel of a train flying down the track.
James Brown - Night Train
Vintage James Brown, proving why he was the "hardest working man in show business".
For an extensive list of the many, many great songs written about trains check out this list at Wikipedia.
