Slightly Deranged Videos of HO Scale Model Train Disasters
Truck Trying to Beat Train - Huge Derailment
Not sure who would do this to innocent plastic models, but it certainly is well made. This was clearly a staged catastrophe.
It starts out with a truck model turning a corner onto a street with a train crossing. I'm pretty sure this is done with stop motion. The truck then proceeds towards the train track as a freight train proceeds towards the same crossing. No idea how this was done, as both truck and train are moving. Maybe this was stop motion, or perhaps a fishing line was attached to the truck and the train was moving under electric power. Finally comes the inevitable collision, with the train striking the truck. The truck gets pushed along the track, and flips on it's side in the process. The freight train fares even worse, with every car coming off the track and forming a huge pile-up.
HUGE TRAIN WRECK CAUGHT ON TAPE!
An even bigger train wreck. I can't tell if this was staged or not, perhaps not.
This is a fairly quick clip of six seconds. A freight train, comprised mainly of hopper cars, proceeds up a slight incline. The locomotive must hit something on the track, as it derails and slides sideways across the track. The momentum of the cars has them continue off the track and into the loco.
Three Wrecks on "HOJimbos" Layout
Not sure if these three crashes are staged, or if HOJimbo's track proximities simply invite disaster.
This is a longer clip than the first two at two and a half minutes. Nicely done with titles and "I've Been Working on the Railroad" playing as a soundtrack. All three wrecks seem to center on one tight corner of Jimbo's setup where he has four tracks that are clearly run too closely in parallel. Fairly long trains try to pass each other, with some going too fast, and there is inevitably disaster.
